The Great Minnesota Ski Pass
To ski on the public trails, you'll need a Great Minnesota Ski Pass. Skiers 16 and older must have a signed current ski pass in their possession when skiing on public ski trails. A Minnesota Drivers license or personal ID is required to purchase a ski pass. If you have not had a Minnesota recreational license in the past several years, or are from out of state, you will also need to provide a Social Security number.
You can purchase the Great Minnesota Ski Pass at these North Shore locations:
- Clearview General Store, Lutsen
- Holiday Station Store, Tofte
You can also purchase the Greater Minnesota Ski Pass using one of the following four methods:
- Electronic licensing system (ELS)

One-Season = $15.00
Three-Season = $40.00
Daily = $5.00

These prices include an additional $3.50 processing fee. You will receive a temporary authorization number over the phone and you will be able to ski with this number until you receive your ski pass in the mail.
Instant License Prices:
One-Season = $18.50
Three-Season = $43.50
