The Superior Hiking Trail The Superior Hiking Trail is snow-covered with icy sections. Winter conditions throughout the trail system. The Gitchi Gami paved trail conditions are variable: ice, snow, or clear pavement on various sections.
BIKING TRAILS
The trail starting at Britton Peak offers a grassy track through quiet woods for those seeking an off-road ride. The Onion River Road, starting at the Oberg Mountain Trailhead is an easy ride on a fairly flat gravel track. Several loops on Forest Service back roads offer great rides from beginner to expert; stop in the Lutsen Tofte Tourism Association Visitor Center in Tofte for maps & directions. The Gitchi Gami Trail, paved in a 2-mile section and a 5-mile section in the Tofte & Schroeder area is in excellent condition for biking & walking...a good choice when accompanied by children.
